What is Biz Prep Academy?

Biz Prep Academy provides in-person training designed to equip individuals with essential bookkeeping skills. Our hands-on approach helps you gain real-world knowledge that you can apply immediately in your career or business.

Is bookkeeping easy to learn?

Yes! This is an easy subject to learn, as long as you keep the following in mind: it is all about tracking financial transactions. We increase and decrease accounts using the words “debit” and “credit.”

All financial transactions fit into only five major categories of accounts. The hardest part is learning the language, and accounting is the language of the business world. If you keep those items in mind, you’ll be successful.

Who are your courses for?

Our courses are perfect for aspiring bookkeepers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who want to understand bookkeeping fundamentals and build confidence managing finances.

Are your courses online or in-person?

All of our courses are taught in person to ensure a more interactive, personalized learning experience. You’ll receive direct support and have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with other learners in a live setting.

How much do the courses cost?

Each course is $150 per student. If a student doesn’t quite grasp the first lesson, they’re welcome to repeat it for just $75. Any additional repeated lessons are also $75 each. We know that learning takes time, and sometimes repetition really is the key to mastery.

Where are classes held?

Classes take place at accessible venues throughout the Greater Houston area, chosen for convenience and ease of access.

Can you teach this at our business location?

Yes! We offer on-site training at your business for $100 per student, capped at $1,000 per session, no matter the class size. We do ask that employees come ready to focus, free from workplace interruptions like ringing phones or stepping out mid-lesson to put out work-related fires. A distraction-free environment helps everyone get the most out of the training.

Is there a textbook?

This course doesn’t follow a traditional textbook. Since bookkeeping is a numbers-based skill, students are free to use any printed or digital resources they prefer. That said, we strongly recommend bringing a notebook and a reliable pen, writing things down helps reinforce the material. Be prepared to take lots of notes!

Can you customize a course for my company?

We’d love to! Whether your team needs help understanding outsourced payroll entries or wants more hands-on practice in a specific area, we’re happy to tailor the course to fit your needs. Let’s talk about what would serve your team best.

Will there be any non-bookkeeping courses offered?

There will likely be, depending on demand. There will be courses such as financial operations management and formulas every bookkeeper should be aware of, so that you can report competently to management. Other courses may include how the stock market operates, how commercial insurance works, and what commercial bankers want to see in a lender to offer the lowest possible interest rate. Another course under consideration can be how to communicate effectively in the business world, how to do presentations and lead discussions about the business.

What kind of support can I expect?

We’re committed to your success. If you have questions or need guidance, you can reach out to our support team through the contact form, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Will I receive a certificate upon completion?

Yes! Once you complete your course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion to recognize your achievement and new skills.
